Darksword Armory viking sword and dagger
Today I received my other set of weapons in the mail. Not that it’s really a set, but it’s a sword and dagger regardless. If you aren’t sure what I’m referring to with “other”, see these posts. So I finally got the right sword and another dagger I fancied at a discount. I have to say that Eyal(owner/blacksmith) from Darksword Armory is a stand up guy. Good quality blades and good support, there’s a reason why he/they have a good reputation, do check them out!
.
I really do fancy these blades, they feel pretty good in the hand, though the sword’s on the heavy side of things. But that’s what their swords are known for, that and their extreme durability.

Sabaton – Carolus Rex Limited Edition album
So I just received my new Sabaton album in the mail together with some other albums. This was a pleasant surprise for sure. What I didn’t expect though was what I got: a huge artbook with 2 albums in it. They really went all-out with the limited edition this time. I also have the limited edition of the previous album; Coat of Arms.
The book contains the 2 discs, lyrics from every track with big fancy artwork in it and a little story what the song is about, if it weren’t obvious enough from the text… which in many cases it isn’t as I’m sure not everyone’s too up to date on their Swedish empire knowledge. It also features some notes from the bandmembers and it feels like a really solid piece of art as well, the images are simply gorgeous to look at. I don’t regret throwing a few extra bucks at them for this.
- Size of the book compared to a regular album.
- Proof of it being a Limited Edition.
- This version has both English and Swedish discs of the album.
- A thank you from the band.
- Lyrics from a song ….
- … together with text showing what it’s about and artwork.
Carach Angren – Little Hector what have you done?
Lyrics:
Games I’m considering let’s playing to replace NWN2 now that it’s done
So I finished recording Neverwinter Nights 2 yesterday, which was very enjoyable. This then leaves me with the option of LP’ing another game and there are actually a bunch of them that I want to do. In fact, a several of them I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. Here are some of the games I’ve been thinking of doing:
Little Big Adventure 1 + 2
LBA being the first game I uploaded footage for, ever, and me still loving the memories of those games, I really want to go through them. I own them on GOG but am still having issues processing the footage. I can record the video/audio just fine, along with my own commentary, however when I want to edit them together is where I still struggle. It seems that none of my editing software can handle the ZMBV codec that dosbox uses. The codec works fine to display the video, but I need to merge and edit the files.
Maybe I should give the windows ports another go, I see they’ve updated them a couple of times since I last tried them.
Jagged Alliance 2
Much like LBA, this was the second game I ever recorded and uploaded with the intention of finishing it, since I never had before. In the end, I managed to fail in that purpose. But I still want to finish it and see that game through, it’s simply too good and forms a stain on my gaming “career” even outside of not having finished recording it. I did a test recording and all is well with that, should I choose it. I would be playing it with the 1.13 mod which adds/improves/changes a lot of things.
I’m hardly an expert, but everyone says that if you’re going to play JA2.. it’s got to be with that mod and from what I’ve seen; that seems accurate.
NOX
Yes, I do want to play some “new” games too.
NOX was again one of those games that I never completed as a kid, I remember getting decently far into it but getting horribly stuck somewhere. It’s a game that I really enjoyed at the time and even when playing it a little before I got it again on GOG, it was enjoyable. I normally don’t care about hack’n'slashers, but NOX is special somehow. With it’s charm and unique way of handling field of view, it feels very different from other games to me.
Max Payne
Not sure if you can call the Max Payne games classics, but from what I’ve seen the third game looks to be quite interesting and pretty good. As such I want to play through the original 2 again as they were great games. I would merely be let’s playing them instead of playing them “solo”. This would mean basically 3 games though, but probably spread out with a little time in between them.
Gemini Rue
An oldschool-styled adventure game made by a small developer? The first ~20 minutes or so that I’ve seen from it really impressed me and made me want to play through it. I don’t really know much else about it other than it getting good reviews and I really want to play it.
So tell me guys, anything you really want to see me do? Now’d be the time to let me know!
Update on the new sword
I posted some pictures of a new sword I had gotten recently and I never really elaborated on that. The thing was that I had actually ordered a different viking sword and I was mailing back and forth with the guy who actually smithes the swords, who is also owner of the business. He apologized and we eventually agreed upon him giving me a discount since I didn’t dislike the look of this sword and still wanted the other. Eyal Azerad was actually very nice about it all and reasonable.
So I’m now going to be re-ordering the same sword and an added dagger with a provided discount. The sword being the 11th c. Viking sword and the dagger being the Henry V dagger that I think looks quite nice, despite me not having the Henry V sword. But I’m looking forward to getting those babies for sure.
Received my Viking sword
So I got my viking sword delivered today, it was in a big box and wrapped in layer upon layer of plastic wraps. This was actually much more protection than I’d expected that to give.
