About Me
My real name’s Marco, though you probably just know me as Aeterna. As most of you will know that I make let’s plays on youtube as a hobby which is just playing games and commenting on them. The real fun in that is talking to likeminded people who suggest me some great games or series or anything to enjoy, besides actually playing the games themselves of course. A question I sometimes get is if there’s any meaning behind the nickname; my answer has and will always be no, I simply needed a nickname for a new character in World of Warcraft back when I played that and Aeterna came to mind and sounded quite nice and so I stuck with it.
I’m from the Netherlands and was born on December 14th 1988 in Nijmegen. I studied to be a System Administrator and have since started working as a Linux System Admin and I plan to focus on linux and networking in the future as those are fields that I really enjoy to explore and work in.
I find it really hard to say more about myself as I don’t really know what I’m like, I always think that others probably know me better than I know myself, as strange as that sounds.
I’d say I’m an anti-social gaming geek who’s quite driven when facing a task with a real minimal amount of social contact outside of work. That is not to say that I’m not social once I’ve engaged in conversation though. But I won’t easily talk to people I don’t know. Other than that I’m pretty much a stereotypical metalhead; I wear comfortable baggy clothing and bandshirts (which are tokens from concerts) and have my hair roughly at shoulder length or a bit longer.
What I spend my time on:
- Making let’s plays – which is probably how you even got to my website in the first place.
- Play games – PC, PS3 and (3)DS games and even the occasional iPhone game.
- Learn about technology in general – mostly networking/security related.
- Learn and play Go (boardgame) – if you like a challenge, it’s a game you should look into.
- Watch series and anime.
What about music then?
Well I got no rhythm so I don’t play an instrument and even tend to shy away from anything involving rhythm.
I do however love to listen to music and focus on mainly rock/metal. More specifically I’m listening to Melodic/Symphonic variants. Though I can listen to just about every sub-genre. I go to concerts several times a year at least and it’s something I truly love and makes me feel more alive than ever.
