Queen anne’s revenge finished

It’s definitely a looker, it draws attention to itself and from a distance you can’t even tell it’s lego.

Got some lego in the mail today

Got some lego in the mail today

Unfortunately I didn’t have time to build it all last night due to interruptions. This means that I’ll be wanting to do this for the next couple of days, but won’t have any free time until saturday. This’ll be frustrating, in fact it already is.

Agalloch and Fen concert

I’m on my way back from a local show by Fen and Agalloch. Fen was a really solid opener and as such did their job well. Both bands are atmospheric blackmetal and thus very ‘floaty’.

This is something I’ll occasionally listen to and enjoy, but I honestly would’ve been fine with both bands playing a little shorter. Nonetheless; both were quite fantastic and well worth seeing!

Impulsive? I call it buying what I’ve really wanted for quite a while

Impulsive? I call it buying what I’ve really wanted for quite a while

I’ve been wanting some nice lego pieces for quite a while. this is partly due to nostalgia, but I think the tested.com guys livestreaming building some of the biggest lego sets helped along this process as well. So I’ve been looking around for quite a while and there’s only actually a few lego sets that are of any interest, most are very average and not interesting/nice to look at. But then I stumbled upon the Queen Anne’s Revenge and the Black Pearl from the Pirates of the Carribean-sets.

Both of these sets are just gorgeous to look at and get super good scores from reviews from people that’ve bought them.  They’re quite nice to look at even as a decorative piece, combining that with lego nostalgia, it was something I had to have and being the sucker I am for red and darker colors; I had to go for Queen Anne’s Revenge. The thing with lego sets is though is that they stop making them rather quickly and they never really go down in price, pretty much ever. Clever on their part to not flood the market of course but it does mean that if you see a set you like; you have to be on the ball and actually be on time to buy it.

Yesterday when lego came up when drinking with some friends I was reminded of this set and that I hadn’t checked it’s status in a while. When I did check I saw it was discontinued and as such would become really rare really quickly. Considering I was having a pretty damn awful day and my holiday pay is coming one of these weeks along with my salary; i figured I would go ahead and order it while I still can. And so I did, so now I’m awaiting it’s delivery in the coming day; hoping it’ll be as good as I’m expecting. :)

Here’s what I did this weekend

Here’s what I did this weekend

I should say that I’m counting this weekend as having started on the thursday, that is because it was 24C, sunny and I had a concert that evening. So let’s start with that; from work I drove me and a colleague over to Almelo to go see Insomnium and Moonspell. I had seen Moonspell before and they always put on a goood show, but the band I really wanted to see was Insomnium. I had never seen them before but they make amazing melodic music and sure enough; they absolutely blew my (and my friend’s) mind. It was one of those rare occasions where you completely just lose yourself to the music, and that’s such a thing to experience. Moonspell also was very good to see; and seeing that it’s their 20th anniversary tour, they played a really long setlist and the show finished around 23:30-23:45 somewhere.

Then for the rest of my weekend I didn’t do much other than catching up on some anime I hadn’t watched in quite a while, reading some more of Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy which is immensely amusing. I did these things while waiting for my recorded Rayman Origins to render. So when it comes to let’s plays this has been an extremely busy weekend as I’ve recorded several sets up to the end of it. It was easily one of the best platformers I’ve played in years, the difficulty seemed really good; especially towards the end. It was challenging right up to the very end; which I really enjoyed.

The only other thing I’ve done was cycle for 2.5 hours which felt great to be able to do again. It was a rather wonderful weekend, not a social one but I feel like I’ve forced myself to be social too much recently which has really backfired for me. You cannot change who you are after all. I’m noticing how I’m definitely different from my friends in that I don’t have the need to be social with other people and that I feel much more at ease on my own compared to when I’m with other people; even if they are my best friends. This is something I’ve given some thought over this past week as a friend made a statement that resulted in me actually becoming angry with him; which if you know me, is really quite difficult. This led me to not talk to him for 4 days or so which made me realize that I really don’t care about losing a friend like that. I just don’t seem to get the same “bonds” that other people get; it’s an alien concept to me.

Got some new loot yesterday

Got some new loot yesterday

The Ex Deo and Heavenwood albums were ones I ordered and which I received. The Moonspell double album Alpha Noir/Omega White and the Insomnium shirt I picked up at last night’s concert.

The bottle of vodka I received from my colleague as a way of paying for gas for driving him there and back.

I totally love this shirt.

Which is the first Crash Course World History poster, which is next to my big Middle Earth worldmap which nicely represents my interests; Fantasy and reality as well as history.

If you’re interested in history, you should do yourself a favor and go watch the crashcourse world history playlist on youtube, it’s rather good.

Some new albums to add to the collection

Some new albums to add to the collection

So I finally got my hands on Kvelertaks albums (the self-titled is still on it’s way) and a Reel Big Fish album, I really love their last one and it was reason enough to get it.

As for Trans-Siberian Orchestra, just give them a listen; they’re amazing and do great variations of music.
